Football Heaven Yesterday

It was football heaven around the house yesterday. Oregon State University (playing in the Sun Bowl) trailed by 14 points with only 12:08 minutes to go before rallying to beat Missouri 39 to 38. And how about that gutsy 2-point conversion run to go for the win baby!

My wife is from a little town just outside of Lubbock, Texas (home of Texas Tech University), and her beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders (playing in the Insight Bowl) pulled off the greatest comeback in Bowl history yesterday. Down 38-7 with 7:47 minutes to go in the third quarter, they scored 31 unanswered points in less than 20 minutes to put the game into overtime. They then proceeded to outscore Minnesota and win the game 44-41.

Until the other night, i was witness to the greatest comeback in bowl history- Marshall with Byron Leftwich over Eastern Carolina with David Garrard. Ironically, both were drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and now Garrard has the starting job over Leftwich. But man that Marshall comeback was awesome. This is why we have little bowls like the Sun Bowl and the GMAC Bowl.

(Been lurking a lot. I’m Joe.)

Don’t you just love this time of year — at least a Bowl game a night if not two or more for weeks! And then throw in all the great NFL games. Got to love it.

You can lurk all you want Joe, but its nice that you popped your head up to say hi :-).

Our local team’s doing well here too. Colchester United are the smallest club in the second division of UK football (soccer) but they’re (currently) in the top 6. Come on!!!
Anyway, Happy New Year and thanks for all your wisdom shared over the last year. It’s good to see blindbeggar 2.0 re-emerging after the pre-Christmas crash.

Tim: Good to hear the Colchester is doing so well and thanks for the encouragement.
