The Theology of SAFE
Good read at Neil Cole’s blog today on the sin of self-preservation.
Here is a noteworthy observation:
We often approach church and ministry with a theology of SAFE.
Safe is…
Self-preservation = our mission
Avoidance of the world and risk = wisdom
Financial security = responsible faith
Education = maturityDoes that not describe many of the churches, denominations or ministries you have encountered?
Sure does, and describes the theology of many Jesus followers also.

Thank you so much for posting this, Rick. You have no idea how personally relevant this article is for me right at this moment. Just this afternoon I have had to make a choice, and I am still reeling a little bit from actually doing it as well as wondering what the consequences will be. Even so, I can breathe a little easier, and at least I am no longer playing it SAFE :)

Funny how He works us into such places in life where we are left with only Him.
