Is the Term Emerging Still Useful?
Brother Maynard has an excellent post titled Emerge-ed? where he reviews the ongoing conversation around whether to continue to use the term “emerging.” Some good comments also.
I believe this dialog is instructive to us in the missional movement (lower case intended). Let’s be careful how we seek to capture, control or organize the term. Working to help keep an appropriate focus is good, but any, as Grace puts it, attempt to capture and tame an organic grassroots movement brings uneasy feelings.
