That being said, the full line is, “And as the mist scatters from the crest of the hill, may each ill haze clear from my soul God.” So it is a prayer to God that “each ill haze” would be cleared from their soul.

What does “from my soul God” mean? It sounds like the conclusion is to remove God out of the way.
